METHOD

Base

1. Mix the dry Pizza base ingredients in a large mixing bowl.

2. Add the olive oil to the water and add to the flour mixture. Get your hands in and mix together until you dough comes together.

3. Put some flour on a clean, dry worktop. Tip the dough mixture out and knead it for 5-10 mins until the dough looks smooth.

4. Lightly oil another mixing bowl and put the dough in. Leave to rise for an hour or so. The dough should double in size.

5. Once doubled in size, split the dough into 4 pieces. Again, four the worktop and roll out the dough as thin as you can get without getting holes in it. Don't worry if it's not round (see picture) it adds to the homemade feel!

Pizza

1. If using the oven, heat to 220 degrees C (200 degrees C fan). If using a pizza oven, get it super hot.

2. Place each pizza base on a pizza stone or tray.

3. Add a Tbsp of tomato sauce to the base and using the back of a spoon, spread the sauce over the base.

4. Add your favourite toppings and finish off with chunks of mozzarella. Don't overload your pizza as it will go soggy.

5. Cook until crispy.

One of the best ways for get kids started with cooking is to get them to create their own pizzas. They can get their hands dirty making the pizza dough and then choose their favourite toppings. This recipe uses a mix of white and wholemeal flour to make it slightly healthier.

We have an Ooni pizza oven which cooks them in seconds, but you can also cook in the oven.
